Season & archive

A league is a season. How it begins, ends, goes into the archive and brings forth the next one.

A league is a season

In bowlinq there is no league that runs for years and inside which a season is closed and a new one opened. A league is a season. The 2026/27 season is a league of its own with its own schedule, its own averages and its own table — and it hangs off its predecessor as a chain: every season knows the one before it and the one after it.

The four states

StateWhat it means
PreparationTeams, members, schedule and scoring rules can be changed freely
ActiveGames are being bowled. The scoring rules stand, everything else moves
CompletedEvery match day is confirmed. The season stands as it was played
ArchivedPut away. The season stays readable, nothing in it changes any more

Two steps happen on their own: with the first confirmed fixture preparation turns into the active season, with the last one into "completed". In preparation there is therefore nothing to do by hand.

In a league without confirmation a fixture with every result entered counts as confirmed. There too the league moves into the active season on its own with the first complete fixture, but the league management ends it through End the season — otherwise a season reopened for a correction would close again through that very correction.

The steps by hand

End the season

Out of the active season, when nothing more will be bowled. Afterwards results, members, teams and schedule stand.

Reopen

Out of "completed" back into play — for a result to be added or a correction to be made.

Back into preparation

The one way to change the scoring rules again. It deletes every result entered: line-ups, games and confirmations are gone. Teams, members and the schedule stay. The dialog says beforehand how many match days that touches.

Archive

Put the finished season away. It stays readable for everybody. Take out of the archive brings it back at any time.

Archived leagues do not disappear from the app: they collect in the league switcher under Archive and are to be found nowhere else.

The next season

Once a season is completed or archived, the next one comes out of it: Renew season.

What comes along: settings, image, teams and members — all preselected, and whoever is not playing again is deselected. A deselected team takes its squad with it. The name is prefilled with the old one; the year is yours to write.

What does not come along: schedule, results and averages. The new season starts from nothing, the old one stays fully readable. Renewing puts the old season into the archive, and the two leagues then stand next to each other as the previous and the following season.
