Account & installation
Signing up, signing in, keeping the profile — and putting bowlinq on the home screen.
Creating an account
Two ways: with an e-mail address and a password or with Google. Afterwards a confirmation mail is in your inbox; some mails only reach you once the address is confirmed. The mail can be requested again in the account settings.
An account is only needed by whoever wants to use bowlinq themselves. Anybody who merely bowls along can be carried by the league management as a member without an account and appears in line-ups, results and the table like everybody else.
Signing in
- Forgotten your password? The link on the sign-in page sends a mail whose link sets a new one.
- Connect Google. In the account settings under Sign-in. Both ways work afterwards.
- No password on the account? Whoever only ever signed in through Google can have one set by mail.
A new password signs you out on every other device. Which devices those are is listed under Signed-in devices; single ones or all the others can be signed out there.
Profile
First name, last name, DBV number and profile picture. The picture appears in the sidebar and next to your name.
Names are saved with capital initials: “anna-lena müller” becomes “Anna-Lena Müller”. Particles inside a name stay lower case — “van der berg” becomes “Van der Berg” —, and whatever already has capitals — “McDonald”, “MÜLLER” — stays as it was typed.
What matters for leagues: every league keeps its own copy of name and DBV number. A change to the profile follows only to where that copy is untouched — where the league management has written the name itself, it stays. More on Teams & players.
Language
bowlinq comes in German and English. The switch is in the navigation; the choice then holds for the whole app and for the mails bowlinq sends you.
Changing the e-mail address
The change is confirmed twice: the first link goes to the old address, the second to the new one. Only the click on the second one switches the address over.
Deleting the account
Under Danger zone. bowlinq sends a mail; only the link in it deletes the account.
- Results stay. What you bowled stays in the tables of the leagues. What goes is your account and the access to it.
- Your own leagues first. While you own leagues it will not go through. Hand them over to another member — you stay on as a co-leader — or delete them.
Putting it on the home screen
bowlinq is a web app: there is nothing to get from the App Store, it runs in the browser. It can still be put on the home screen like an app — with an icon of its own, and one tap opens your league full screen, without the address bar. There is never anything to update: the icon always opens the latest version.
Open bowlinq.de/app first. Put the icon down from inside the app, not from the home page or these docs. Otherwise it will later open the website instead of your league.
iPhone & iPad
- Open bowlinq.de/app in Safari.
- Tap the share icon — a square with an arrow pointing up. If you cannot see it, tap the three dots … first.
- Scroll down the list and choose Add to Home Screen.
- Tap Add at the top right.
The first time you open bowlinq through the new icon, you sign in once more: the iPhone keeps the app apart from Safari.
Android
- Open bowlinq.de/app in Chrome.
- Tap the three dots ⋮ at the top right.
- Choose Install app — or Add to Home screen, if that is what it says.
- Confirm with Install.
Sometimes Chrome offers the install on its own at the bottom of the screen.
Desktop
- Open bowlinq.de/app in Chrome or Edge.
- Click the install icon at the right of the address bar.
- Confirm with Install.
bowlinq then opens in a window of its own. On a Mac, Safari does it too, through File → Add to Dock.
Removing it again
Like any other app: press and hold the icon and delete it. Your account, league and results are not touched by that.
The same guide with icons is at Install the app.
